Hailing from the modest town of Escatawpa, MS, near Biloxi, 3 Doors Down bad a major-label shorten exploitation popular live shows and the report of a single song dynasty. Their hit, "Kryptonite," generated unprecedented buzz at local radio station WCPR in Biloxi, serving to make them hometown favorites and enabling them to draw comparatively tumid crowds to their local live shows, which consequently, helped them run their range beyond Mississippi and the deep south to internationally noted clubs like New York's CBGB's.
To begin with a trio consisting of singer and drummer Brad Arnold, guitarist Matt Roberts and bassist Todd Harrell, the band shortly added guitarist Chris Henderson and retained a studio drummer so that Arnold could fall forth and sing lively. The CBGB's show brought them to the attention of Republic Records, a underling of Universal, which issued the band's major-label debut, The Better Life, in other 2000.
