Oprah: No Palin Plans


After the Drudge Report posted a story this morning suggesting that Oprah Winfrey was blocking an appearance by Republican vice presidential campaigner Sarah Palin on her show because of her support for Democrat Barack Obama, the daytime prima donna issued a statement to TMZ denying the rumors.



"The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue," Oprah says. "There has been absolutely no treatment about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the root of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for whatever of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a marvelous interview, and I would love to have her on after the military campaign is over."



The item on the Drudge Report, which has also posted Oprah's program line, had quoted a generator saying: "Half of her staff real wants Sarah Palin on. Oprah's web site is getting tons of requests to put her on, simply Oprah and a couple of her top citizenry are adamantly against it because of Obama."�

'Flash Gordon' pace quickens with scribes

NEW YORK -- "Flash Gordon" is moving ahead at breakneck speed.

Sony has signed writers Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless to pen the script for the new direct on the outer space tale, just a few months after winning rights to the title from Hearst.

"Flash Gordon" centers on the titular young polo player world Health Organization is kidnapped and taken to the distant major planet Mongo, where he and companions Dale Arden and Hans Zarkov embark on a series of adventures fighting a ruler named Ming the Merciless.

Sony's "Flash," a live-action film, follows in a 75-year tradition across many media for what began life as Alex Raymond's comic clean; the place was a movie serial in the 1930s, a Sam Jones-toplined feature in 1980 and a recent Sci Fi Channel series.

The ICM-repped Sazama and Sharpless are writing the lamia tale "Dracula Year Zero" for Universal and Zack Snyder's "Cobalt 60."

The new "Flash" to begin with had been set up at Universal, but rights reverted to Hearst's King Features Syndicate after the project sabbatum in maturation for several years.

Breck Eisner is attached to engineer and Neal Moritz to produce, as they were when the project was set up at Universal.

Our Brother The Native Man Features on Phantom Channel Compilation

It's a well known fact that Angry Ape are avid followers of Our Brother The Native. Earlier this year the prodigious trio released their jaw-dropping second album Make Amends For We Are Merely Vessels. OBTN man Chaz Knapp has followed this by starting work on a solo project and the fruits of his labour can be heard the forthcoming Phantom Channel compilation


After months of boring administration work and lengthy delays upon lengthy delays, the innovative netlabel Phantom Channel will finally release Part 2 of their much vaunted "Phantom Channel Presents�" compilation series.


While Part 1 gained new friends left, right and centre with its focus on dark, cinematic soundscapes, Part 2 is in complete contrast, focusing on melody, colour and, dare we say it, light. This is reflected in the gorgeous artwork, again concepted by photographer and video artist Liam Frankland, whose previous credits include Bitcrush, Last Days, Ralf Zurmuhle and SubtractiveLAD.


Phantom Channel Presents


There are some notable names throughout the 13 tracks, as well as Our Brother the Native's Chaz Knapp, including Engine7, Konntinent, Hurra Caine Landcrash and Shoosh.


It's due to be released, as a free download, on Monday 23rd of June.
